Nkumbuzo Nkonyana

Nkumbuzo was born and bred in Khayelitsha, Cape Town in December 1989. He was raised by a single mother with his little sister but that didn’t stop him on achieving great things for himself. In 2001, he was chosen by his class teacher at primary school to join the school senior choir. His love of music started as he was traveling to many places with choir for competitions and performances.

At the age of 14, he joined the school choir and was chosen to be part of the choir members who went to represent to country around Europe in Germany and Austria. As most of young boys from the streets of township would play soccer, Nkumbuzo noticed that he was not good on soccer and he looked for something else that he could do to keep him busy on weekends and so in 2006 at the age 16 he decided to join The College of Magic in Claremont. He completed a 6 year diploma magic course within 4 years and in 2009 he was chosen to represent South Africa at the World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas competing against other teenagers from around the world. His duo act won the SARMOTI Legacy Award – Best original act, and came back to SA to enter the first season of SA Got talent the same year where they made it to the semi-finals of the competition top 21.

In 2010  Nkumbuzo decided to focus on his music career and formed Heavenly Quartez who have performed around the country including fan parks during the 2010 Soccer World Cup and sharing stages with well know celebs such as international gospel star Kirk Franklin and Lira to mention few.
